Roast Alarm ("we", "us", or "our") values the personal information of our users ("User" or "you") and complies with the relevant laws and regulations, such as the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, the Personal Information Protection Act, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Through this Privacy Policy, we inform you of the purpose and method of using the personal information provided by the User and what measures are being taken to protect your personal information. This Privacy Policy applies to the Roast Alarm mobile application and our website (https://roast-alarm.com/).

1. Items of Personal Information Collected and Methods of Collection
To provide our unique AI-driven alarm and community features, we collect the following information:
| Category | Items Processed | Storage Location |
|---|---|---|
| Device & Network Identity | Device ID, Push Notification Tokens, IP Address, OS version, App version. | Our Servers (Firebase) |
| Service Usage & Analytics | Alarm settings, snooze frequencies, wake-up success/failure logs, Discipline Score, selected AI Voices, in-app navigation events. | Our Servers (Firebase) & Analytics SDKs |
| Squad / Multiplayer Data | Squad PINs, User aliases/nicknames (associated with Device ID), team scores, shared failure reasons. | Our Servers (Firebase) |
| Location Data (Optional) | Approximate location data (to provide real-time weather forecasts in the Command Center). | Processed temporarily; not stored |
Methods of Collection:
- Automatic collection via Firebase SDKs when the application is installed and executed.
- Data generated through user interaction with the App (e.g., setting alarms, joining Squads).
2. Purpose of Data Processing
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Executing Core Services: Firing alarms exactly on time, delivering weather updates, and retrieving pre-generated audio roasts and quotes from our database.
- AI Integration: Utilizing Google Gemini/Vertex AI to generate dynamic, personalized text roasts based on user behavior (e.g., snooze counts).
- Multiplayer Operation: Facilitating the "Squad" features, allowing users to join rooms via PIN, share Discipline Scores, and broadcast "Global Failures" to the community.
- Service Improvement & Monetization: Analyzing crash reports to improve stability, and utilizing non-identifying device data to serve advertisements via Google AdMob (for non-Pro users).
3. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We only share necessary data with trusted third-party service providers to operate the Service, as detailed below.
4. Third-Party Integrations & APIs
To provide our services, we consign data processing to the following specialized companies:
| Service Provider | Purpose & Data Handled |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Hosting the Realtime Database (for Squads and Scores), Cloud Storage (for audio and quotes), and Crashlytics (for bug tracking). |
| Google Vertex AI / Gemini | Generating dynamic text-based roasts. We send contextual prompts (e.g., snooze count, failure reason). We do not send your Device ID or PII to the AI models. |
| Google AdMob | Serving advertisements. AdMob may collect Advertising Identifiers (IDFA/GAID) to provide personalized ads. |
| Weather APIs | Processing approximate location data to deliver weather forecasts. |
5. Procedure and Method of Destruction of Personal Information
Information is destroyed when it is no longer necessary for the purposes outlined above.
- Destruction Procedure: Data associated with your Device ID (such as Squad memberships and scores) is stored in our Firebase database. If the App is uninstalled and remains inactive for an extended period, the data may be purged according to our retention policies.
- Destruction Method: Electronic files and database records are permanently deleted using technical methods that prevent recovery.
6. Rights and Obligations of the Information Subject
Because the App identifies users primarily via Device IDs rather than traditional accounts (like email/passwords), your rights are exercised primarily through your device:
- You can modify your alias, settings, and Squad participation directly within the App.
- You can request data deletion by contacting support with your specific Device Identifier, or by clearing the App data/uninstalling the App, which breaks the link to your records on our servers.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device's ad tracking settings (e.g., "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android).
7. Matters Concerning Automatic Information Collection Devices (Cookies)
The Roast Alarm mobile application does not use web cookies. However, it utilizes standard mobile tracking technologies (like SDKs) provided by Firebase and AdMob.
Our promotional website (https://roast-alarm.com/) may use basic technical cookies necessary for website performance and basic analytics. You can manage or disable these cookies via your web browser settings at any time.
8. Special Provisions for Global Users (GDPR & CCPA)
A. For Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) - GDPR
We process your data based on legitimate interests (providing the service) and consent (for advertising). You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your data, and to restrict or object to processing. You may withdraw consent for AdMob tracking via your device settings.
B. For California Residents - CCPA/CPRA
We strictly comply with the CCPA. We affirm the following:
- Right to Know & Delete: You may request information about our data collection and request deletion.
- Do Not Sell My Personal Information: We do not sell your personal information for monetary value. However, the use of third-party advertising SDKs (like AdMob) may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under CCPA definitions. You can opt out via your device's privacy settings.
9. Measures to Ensure the Safety of Personal Information
We take technical and administrative measures to secure your data, including securing our Firebase databases with strict security rules, restricting access to backend systems, and encrypting data in transit.
